Installation preparation
Guidance for families considering Eden OS on a spare computer in the future.
Before you install anything
- Check the release status. There is no approved public installer yet.
- Back up all personal files from the computer.
- Write down the machine model, memory and available storage. Minimum requirements are not yet published.
- Keep the original operating system recovery method available.
- Only install a release after the device is explicitly listed as tested or supported.
What we are still validating
Boot compatibility, graphics, Wi-Fi, audio, video playback, accessibility, installation, removal and recovery are being tested. Do not install a development image on a computer containing irreplaceable files.
Common questions
Can I use any old laptop? Not necessarily. Supported models will be published after hardware testing.
Is the installer ready? No. We will not publish an untested download.
